San Marino coach quits after losing to kindergarten team

The coach of the San Marino national football team, Fabrizio Costantini, has announced his resignation after his team suffered a humiliating defeat against a kindergarten team in a friendly match. The match, which was supposed to be a confidence booster for the team ahead of their World Cup qualifiers, ended with a score of 10-0 in favor of the kids.

Costantini, who had been in charge of the team since 2021, said he had no choice but to step down after the embarrassing result. “I take full responsibility for this disaster. I underestimated the opponents and overestimated our players. I thought we could at least score one goal, but we couldn’t even get past the midfield. The kids were faster, stronger, and smarter than us. They played like Barcelona, and we played like a bunch of amateurs.”

The kindergarten team, which consisted of children aged between 4 and 6, celebrated their victory by singing nursery rhymes and eating ice cream. Their coach, Mrs. Jones, said she was proud of her students and praised their performance. “They showed great teamwork, creativity, and enthusiasm. They followed the instructions and executed the tactics perfectly. They scored some amazing goals and defended well. They deserved to win.”

The San Marino Football Federation (FSGC) said it accepted Costantini’s resignation and thanked him for his service. It also said it would launch an investigation into the incident and look for a new coach as soon as possible. The FSGC president, Marco Tura, said he hoped the team would learn from their mistake and improve their level of play. “We apologize to our fans and our country for this shameful result. We know we are not a strong team, but we should not lose to a kindergarten team. We need to work harder and find a way to bounce back.”

The match between San Marino and the kindergarten team has been dubbed as one of the biggest upsets in football history. It has also sparked a lot of jokes and memes on social media, with some users comparing it to the famous 7-1 loss of Brazil against Germany in the 2014 World Cup. Some users also suggested that San Marino should hire Mrs. Jones as their new coach.
