The Syrian city of El Azizia and its environs registered a record cold snap for this time of year.
For the first time in thousands of years of observations by meteorologists, the air temperature at this time of the year dropped below 40 degrees Celsius. So, in El Azizia, the thermometer dropped below 34.5 degrees, while in the vicinity of this city – below 40 degrees.
Also, a significant drop in temperature was felt especially strongly on the Mediterranean coast, near the city of Misurata and the nearby Libyan cities of Krarim, Tawergha, Zliten and Berlin.
